May 19, 2013, 6:24 pm

Hi swim fams--

1-Our potluck was well attended, even with West Cottonwood's open house. The swimmers on the team got to bond and connect more.  Ericka had a good meeting with the parents, and she posted a summary of the meeting on the pool office window.  The main stuff covered was on pages 4, 9, and 10 in the handbook.  If you don't yet have a handbook, obtain it from Ericka.

2-Swimmers, finish your spring sport and spring academic semester strong.  Keep gpa's up.  Falling below 2.0 could affect your participation for West Valley High swim team come this season in August.

3-Lots of Aquagator info on our website aptly done by Sherry James.  There are more than 100 swommers on our team now.

4-Parents-only swimmers on our team can use any part of the pool during practices. We may allow non-insured swimmers to be in the pool during potlucks, team pictures and awards banquets.

5-Our first dual meet is May 29th at WV pool.  Swimmers who attend practice regularly will be more prepared for it.    Marc

Hi swim fams-

"Signups for the Anderson Aquagators competitive swim team happens Thursday May 2nd, anytime between 4p.m and 6:30 p.m. at the West Valley High School Pool.

Fitting and acquisition of our team suits (pure black) will also occur that day.
Norcal Swim Shop will also have goggles and caps etc. at the pool.
At signups, you'll also get your swim schedule, handbook and other info. I will be there too. We're in the water May 6th.  Go to aquagators.com for more, or email me.

Our Schedule for duals and Invitationals is on our  aquagators.com  website.

I'm conducting coach clinics for our coaching staff- which is--

Steven Haslam- returning for his 4th season, coaching the teens. Steven has also been coaching West Valley High the past 4 years.

Taylor Serna takes over the 9-11 age group, returning for her second season with the Aquagators.  She'll also be returning for her second season as the jv coach for the West Valley High team, and she just finished a successful season on the Shasta College Swim Team.

Becca Lindsay returns for her second season to coach the 8 and unders. She's a two-time captain on the West Valley Swim Team.

Kelsie Lywandowsky will also coach the 8 and unders.  She's been an assistant coach for basketball and soccer, and was a captain last season for West Valley Swim Team.

1-Parents of swimmers age 9 and under--feel free to watch practices from a distance, but please stay at least 20 yards away from the 9 and under swimmers and let our coaching staff take care of everything.

2-Speaking of coaching staff, we have 2 new coaches and a returning coach to handle the 8 and under group, and they all were hand chosen and endorsed by me based on their professionalism, passion for teaching young kids, and their proven track record on the Aquagators and West Valley swim teams. They are Becca Lindsey and Kelsie Lywandowsky, with Ashley Moebes filling in fcoach 2or them and Taylor Serna, who takes over for Carri with the 9 and ups. Steven Haslam returns for the teens.

3--Just like the past couple of years, there will be at least 30 Aquagator swimmers working out and racing this season who will then be totally prepared for the West Valley High School Swim Team in August.

4--For West Valley swimming, if you have a friend who might really benefit from being on the team, let them know about Aquagators, and have them email me. It's a fact--more than half the incoming freshman who swim seriously with the Aquagators going into the season, earn a varsity letter 3 months later.

5--More than talent or anything else, our coaching staff (and just like last year, there will be 4 on deck coaching 4 groups) is looking for kids who are simply willing to try and focus.

6--Fortunately, many of our Aquagator kids are currently participating in a sport. It's important to finish your current season strongly. For kids who are jv, I'm recommending going to as many swim practices in May as possible. For varsity level, it's probably best to finish your season strong, then jump into swimming. For 8th grade and under, come on out and swim in May as much as you can.

7--May is probably our most important month for improving swimmers' technique, which is the most important developmental aspect of swimming of all.

8-Next season's West Valley swimmers--Keep your spring semester gpa up. Falling below 2.0 will jeopardize your standing on the team.

Cool Marc

And now, a copy and paste from Tuesday.
Hello All,

The Aqua Gators would like to offer swim families the opportunity to purchase personalized swim caps early this year. Since it takes 4-6 weeks to receive the caps, an early order would ensure our swimmers would have their caps in time for even our earliest meets this season. To see a scan of our cap design, contact me at the email address below. There is a minimum of two caps per last name. Personalized caps are $12 each. Regular Aqua Gator caps without personalization are $10 each. You do not need to pay for your caps until you take delivery of them. I would like to get started on an email opportunity for current Aqua Gators. If you would like to order personalized caps, please email me at holmridge@snowcrest.net with the number of caps you wish to order and the proper spelling of your last name. If there is enough interest, I will get an order together ASAP.

Thank you,

Tuesday Peterson

Hot newsSwim families--

Our Aquagator kids really rocked this weekend. As a team, we won our 7th straight NVAL Championship title (there should be a story on it in Monday's Record Searchlight---good story and photo in Sunday's paper as well).

Most of our swimmers dropped anywhere from decent to significant time in most of their races, which was one of our primary missions.

West Valley swimmers-bring me your pink or gold slips (that you should obtain Monday or Tuesday) in order to practice August 13, Monday at 8a.m. There's more info about starting the season on our website at westvalleyswim.com (or a mass email you likely received on July 29th).

Aquagator Awards this Thursday at 6p at the WV Pool. Potluck--bring something--no glass.

Bring suits for free swim after awards.

EVERY AQUAGATOR in attendance will be recognized and awarded at least a pin.

High point plaque recipients from NVAL's include Kendall Brown, Carson Lowry, Royce Lowry, Ally Plummer, Travis Serna, Taylor Serna, Steven Jordan, Ande Baldwin and Sean Jordan. The competition level at NVAL's this weekend was higher than the previous few years.

I'm sure gonna miss Taylor Serna, Steven Jordan and Samantha Eiler, who swam in their final NVAL meet. You guys are so awesome.

Cool

br040327: USA breastroke swimmer clipart.Diggin' the swimming during the Olympics. Lots to talk about at practice. Feel free to post comments about it on Facebook.

Swimmers, on your I.M., don't do a flip turn from back to breast like you see in the Olympics. You will get DQ'd.

For our 73 Aquagator swimmers on our NVAL Championship team, just go to ONE practice per day (the rest and recovery is now more important than the extra work of 2-a-days for faster swimming).

We're making NVAL t-shirts, and you can get yours for just $5 (the team absorbs the rest of the cost). Let's wear them and/or our Aquagator t-shirts to NVAL's. Ericka will have a duty list for Aquagator parents to time.

No evening practice Thursday, Aug. 2nd.

Aquagators are to check in then get in at 12:30p.m. Events close at 1:30p.m.

Check in then get in at 7:30a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, like always.

All this week- lay off the sodas, drink lots of water, stay out of the sun, take it easy (rest) and focus during practice. The coaches will get you ready for NVAL's. During the meet, hang out in our team area and make sure you are eating throughout the meet each day.

Parents, check the office window to see if you owe for relays. And please, let just the coaches ask our swimmers to help on set up and take down.

Our Meet was a Blast
Jul 24, 2012, 10:12 pm

Hot news

Hi swim families--

I was so happy with the meet. We overcame some obstacles and challenges, and became even a stronger swim family. Thanks so much, parents, for smiling while working your butts off. All of our kids are the benefactors for it. Speaking of our swimmers, they were awesome.

Swimmers not yet in high school who got varsity cuts for the first time include Matthew Boban in the 500 free, Claire Reuss in the 100 breast, Ally Plummer in the 500 free and Maddie Brindley in the 500 free.

High point trophy winners were 20 strong---Kynzee Wimmer, Kendall Brown, Carson Lowry, Taylor Serna, Becca Lindsey, Kate Sjoberg,

Caleb McGowan, James Williams, Steven Jordan, Sam Reuss, Kaylee Kirby, Ally Plummer, Maddie Brindley, Royce Lowry, Jericho Strege,

Travis Serna, Eric James, Ande Baldwin, Sabrina Bradley, and Sean Jordan.

I'm sure hoping y'all will make plans to watch Olympic Swimming---it starts this Saturday!!!! It will be quite educational and inspirational for our swimmers. Swimmers, I wanna know what you think about what you see.

NVAL's/A.I. Parent duty sheet
Jul 19, 2012, 9:16 pm

importantHi swimmers and parental units--

Deadline for handing in NVAL Championships entries into Ericka is this TUESDAY!!!! This is a championship, and late entries won't be accepted.

1--Parents, we want our swimmers to focus on their top races at this meet. So, if there is a race or two they're not comfortable with, go ahead and not enter them in it (them). This way, they get to focus on their better races for championships.

2--The coaches will confer, and come up with ONE RELAY per age group, with one alternate. The idea is to have the fastest possible championship relay. We'll be lloking at Red Bluff and Anderson Invitational results to make these determinations.

3--For your entries, use the times from the Red Bluff Invitational or our invitational.

4--No practice on the evening of Thursday, August 2nd. That's the night of the West Valley Swim team watch Olympic swimming at the Parke's potluck. Coaches want all our NVAL Championship team to practice together at Thursday morning's practice.

5--Olympic swimming starts on NBC TV July 28th, so get your recorders ready.

And now, the DUTY ROSTER for our meet, from Ericka (who's working her butt off, doing a great job, as usual)--

Red Bluff/Anderson Invitationals Info
Jul 17, 2012, 9:04 pm

Hot newsYo, swim fams--

No practice Thursday evening.

Info on Anderson Invitational and our dual Wednesday night below from Ericka.

We're right on target for NVAL Championships, based on how well our swimmers did at Red Bluff Invitational, which we won.

The following swimmers, who are not yet in high school, swam varsity time standards--Emmy Lindsey in the 200 I.M. and 500 free, Ally Plummer in the 200 I.M., 100 breast and 100 back, Maddie Brindley in the 200 I.M., Cheyanne Bradley in the 200 I.M. and the 100 fly, and Kaitlyn McGowan in the 200 I.M. and 100 fly.

High point trophy winners were Quinn Lockett, Kendall Brown, Carson Lowry, Royce Lowry, Maddie Brindley, Ally Plummer, Travis Serna, Jericho Strege, Ande Baldwin, Sean Jordan, Steven Jordan, James Williams, Bubba King and Taylor Serna.

Most of our swimmers from the Red Bluff meet were at this morning's practice, and I delivered proactive and positive messages about flyovers (where the kids stay in the water until the next heat starts), good attitudes, sportsmanship, how we deal with DQ's, and warming up and down before and after races at Anderson Invitational and NVAL's.

Warmups for our meet are exactly as the meet sheet states-- 3:30p.m. on Friday, 7:30a.m. for morning sessions, and noon for afternoon sessions on Saturday and Sunday.

Here’s a copy and paste from Ericka—

Sign up for Wednesdays dual by Tuesday. Warm-ups are at 5 pm and we start at 6 pm.

We need some extra ice chests for our meet.

Those parents that are helping to set up for our meet, set up will be Thursday evening at 6 pm and also Friday morning at about 8 am.

Raffle baskets are due by Thursday. We also need about 9 more baskets donated.

Job assignment list for our meet will be posted by Wednesday at pm practice just in case you forgot what you signed up for.

We still need another person to sing the national anthem, let me know if you would like to do that. We also need a head timer each day. Plus there are still several empty slots to fill in several areas, if you only signed up for an hour or two please remember that to receive back your parent help check you need to work 15 hours.”

And now, a copy and paste from Mike Haslam—

We would like to have 2-3 more ups to cover individual stations inside the pool area. It would also be a good idea to mention that families need to find a way to keep their kids sheltered from the heat and not to totally rely on others. Last year we had cool weather so it was not much of an issue, but two years ago we noticed quite a few kids sitting out in the open sunshine. “

Amended warmup times/ Timing schedule/Set up
Jul 12, 2012, 3:35 pm

swim meet

For Red Bluff Meet, Anderson's warmup times are 2:44p.m. on Friday, and 7:44a.m.  on  Saturday and Sunday. This means we only have 30-minutes to warmup, get used to the backstroke flags, and do dives.

Our Anderson Invitational entries are in, and we have 67 swimmers entered into our meet.

No practice Friday or Monday.

Parents, Ericka has a schedule for our team's share of timers at Red Bluff meet. (My computer couldn't download her attachment). Please check with her and she will have the schedule. here's her copy and paste--

" After having the officials calling for timers from Anderson at the Weaverville and Scott Valley meets and having heard from concerned parents, I decided to put together a schedule like I do at NVAL's. So basically if your child is swimming this weekend, you will have at least 1 slot of timing to do each day that you are there. If you can not make the time that you are scheduled it is up to you to find a replacement.

Also, set-up in the mornings has seen better days! For the rest of the season certain groups are going to be assigned to set up each week. Starting next week Marc's group will be in charge of set-up in the morning, so if your child is in that group make sure to get them there early enough to get it done.

We still need more parents to sign up for working at our meet that is in a week and a half. This is the final request, after this week I will go down the list and if your child is swimming in our meet I will assign you a job (I will call you to let you know). If you want to be able to choose your own job them you need to see me by the end of this week! Remember IT TAKES ALL OF US TO PUT THIS ON, NOT JUST A FEW!!

We need at least 10 more parents to sign up to bring raffle baskets. The list is on the window at the pool. You do not need to use the categories on the list you can come up with your own. (Just let me know)

Thank You,

Ericka"

And, a copy and paste from Mike Haslam--"

At our meet we would like to have 2-3 more popups to cover individual stations around the pool area. It would also be a good idea for families to find a way to keep their kids sheltered from the heat and not to totally rely on others. Last year we had cool weather so it was not much of an issue, however two years ago we noticed quite a few kids sitting out in the open sunshine.

Thanks, Mike

Hot news

This may not apply to you, but attached is the West Valley 2012 Swim Schedule and Event Schedule--please feel free to print them out and post. If you know of someone new who's planning on being on the team, please send this to them.

WV Swim Events

WV Swim Schedule

swim meet infoNow, for Red Bluff Invitational info--

Warmups for Aquagators will be 2:30 p.m. on Friday, and 7:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. No chance to warmup once the meet starts each day. If we wind up starting our warmups in the second session (later), I will let the swimmers know on Thursday.

Temps this week will be in the low 100's, so swimmers, keep swigging down the water and stay hydrated all week and throughout the meet.

With warmer temps comes increased ear infections. Ways to reduce the chances of getting an ear infection or reduce symptoms include--

staying out of lakes, creeks, ponds, neighbors pools etc., putting ear drops in ears after each practice, and keep immune system up through good diet and plenty of rest and fluids.

We have 58 Aquagators racing at Red Bluff's Invitational.

Those with even occasional asthma, it's a good idea to use your rescue inhaler just before warmups at meets.

Hot NewsHi swim families--

No practice Friday the 13th (Red Bluff meet-day one).

Also, no practice on Thursday evening, August 2nd (our last scheduled practice). Instead, all high schoolers are invited to a potluck at the Parke's to watch olympic swimming.

Soooo, all swimmers competing at NVAL's need to go to the morning practice on Thursday, August 2nd.

Speaking of NVAL's, our coaching staff continues to get our swimmers ready for the NVAL Championships, our target meet.

Anderson Invitational meet sheets are ready, so get yours from Ericka, and back to her by this Thursday morning's practice.

Many of our high school age swimmers have gone on our field trips to see the Berkeley/Stanford college meets. Several of those swimmers we saw competed at Olympic trials, and at least one, Levereaux from Berkeley women's team, has qualified for the Olympics (I.M.'s), and we saw her in 2011.

Scott Valley was a blast. 58 swimmers and parents fished, swam and hiked at Kangaroo Lake. An article about our success at the meet will be in Wednesday's Valley Post.

The Aquagators won the meet, with Weaverville second and Scott Valley third and Red Bluff 4th.

High point award winners from our team were Kendall Brown, Kynzee Wimmer, Carson Lowry, Ally Plummer, Maddie Brindley, Royce Lowry, Jericho Strege, Travis Serna, Eric James, Ande Baldwin, Sean Jordan, Caleb McGowan, Taylor Serna and Steven Jordan. Those who won 3 or more races were Taylor Serna, Ally Plummer, Maddie Brindley, Steven Jordan, Carson Lowry, Royce Lowry and Ande Baldwin.

This copy and paste from Ericka--

1. Parents please check the window at the pool for upcoming information and turn in dates.

2. Please sign up to donate a raffle basket for our invitational. The sign up sheet is on the window.

3. If you have not yet paid for your relays from Weaverville and Scott Valley please check the window to see what you owe. All relays need to be paid for by NVAL's.

4. If you have not signed up to work at our invitational please see me. It takes all the parents to put this on. There are still several jobs that need to be filled including: marshalls, bullpen, and security. Plus there are open spots in severals other areas.

From Sherry--There are photos from scott valley in the "photo Gallery" on the website courtesy of Kim Gooch.

From Tuesday Peterson--

Swimmers- If you got personalized Aqua-Gator swim caps and have not yet paid for them, please do so. There is a list on the window at the pool of those who have not yet turned in their money for caps. We have had a lot of positive feedback about the new caps and look forward to placing another order next season.

hot newsHi swim families--

Great 30-minute swims, tie-dyeing, and potluck. Thanks parents.

Weaverville info posted below.

No practice this Friday or Monday.

It will be very educational and inspirational for our swimmers to watch the Olympic Swimming Trials on tv, starting next week. They are on every night at 5p.m. our time from June 25 through July 2 on NBC. For more info, go to http://www.usaswimming.org/DesktopDefault.aspx?TabId=2345&Alias=Rainbow&Lang=en

This from Sherry--

Lap-a-thon results are posted in the window. Top swimmers in each age group (1 boy, 1 girl) will receive a meal deal coupon for our snack bar. Check the window when you come to practice.

Those needing to make-up the lap-a-thon need to let Marc know; he’ll pick a day to do this.

Lauri Plummer and myself and several other parents and swimmers dyed 25 unclaimed shirts. If you’re on the team, you have a shirt. To get your shirt for FREE it’s up to you to turn in your addressed envelopes and forms (or in the case of WVHS swimmers, sell an ad), else you can purchase for $20.00. It’s never too late to turn-in your forms; however, Ad Sales must be made before July 7th.

HELP the TEAM----the team raises a lot more money from your sponsors and Ad sales than we do from selling shirts! We will sell any unclaimed shirts for $20.00 ea.

Thanks to all for supporting our kids! Sherry"

swim meet infoFOR WEAVERVILLE MEET
Plan on road delays (Caltrans is doing Hiway 299 West road work) from 10 to 60 minutes.
Bring mosquito repellent and monitor mosquitoes.
Swimmers need to dress warmly for mid 40's in the morning.

Meet Protocol

1-Swimmers need to check in 75 minutes before each day of the meet starts, then get in for warm-ups (schedule will be posted—ALL of our team need to get in for thorough warm-ups together, on time. For Friday, it’s 1:45 p.m., and for Saturday and Sunday it’s 7:45 a.m. for our kids to check in then get in.

2-Wear your team suits (if you have them), plus team caps and team tie-dye shirts.

3-All swimmers must be accompanied by a parent or designee for overnight meets.

4-If you won’t be staying for a relay at the end of the meet Sunday, let the coaches know.

5-Our team barbecue happens right after the races are done on Friday, right next to the pool.

6-Swimmers need to stay in our team area, in the shade (no horseplay) during the meet.

7-Our older kids can also help with the newer and younger kids.

8-Heat and lane assignments will be posted on the wall before each race.

9-I will have the lap counters at my coach table. If you are counting laps, return the lap counters to me promptly. Grab the lap counter about one heat before the person you are counting for.

10-Get behind the blocks early, and double check your heat and lane.

11-See your coach before and after each race.

12-Drink plenty of water throughout the meet. Start drinking plenty of water now. The main reason a swimmer’s worst race is the last race of the day is because they are dehydrated.

hot news

H i s w im families--

The Sc ott Valley meet entries have been sent in and we have 54 swimmers going.

Info on the Weaverville meet is coming soon.

1-Our Red  Bluff dual is Wednesday, with warmups at 4:30. You can choose 2 events, plus we'll put you in a relay. To get to Red Bluff High School pool, take the first Red Bluff exit, drive south then turn right on Walnut, then right on Franklin.

2--There are several swimmers who are being dropped off at practice and either get out early, or don't swim at all. On the Aquagators team, the coaches do not force swimmers to practice. They are reporting an injury or illness. If they're going to 2-a-days, this is a sign this is too much for them.

3----There are lots of swimmers' siblings at the pool who need close supervisio n. Make sure there is a parent sitting at the steps of the pool who is right there watching. Since I'm the one who answers to West Valley administration, I'm just dotting my I's and crossing my t's.

7. I will be on the grass at 5:00 p.m. if you would like to come early to the evening event and be first to dye your shirt,

8. I did not order extra shirts; however, Ericka is selling Aqua-Gators shirts for adults and other supporters. If you would like to dye that shirt (assuming they’re in), or another shirt, bring it with you.

9. Thank you, our swim program is a success because of your support! Sherry (if you have questions/concerns 357-4084)

Swamp Meet was a blast/Scott Valley Meet sheets due June 20
Jun 10, 2012, 2:08 pm

hot news

Swim families--

65 of our Aquagator swimmers are signed up for and going to the Weaverville meet. If you're going to our Gator-sponsored free barbecue that Friday, please sign up at the pool window.

Ericka has the Scott Valley meet sheets. They are due back to her by this Friday, June 15th at morning practice. You must have them back to her by then. I recommend getting them to her by Wednesday or Thursday. It will be a 3-day meet this time. Etna Brewery will have who they say is Siskiyou County's top band, a classic rock band, playing Saturday night, mainly for the Aquagator parents, although they have dinner and root beer floats for the kids as well. Several parents have already told me they'll be there. Scott Valley is another campout meet, and we camp on the high school football field across from the pool.

We have a dual meet that is not on our schedule, set for Wednesday evening, June 20 at Red Bluff.

The Swamp Monster Meet was so much fun. This relay party was very well attended by our 11 and ups, and most of them got their Swamp Monster t-shirts. It was like a carnival and party. The DJ music was loud, just the way we like it, and the kids swam under the lights for the first time. Several parents wore frizzy, glow-in-the-dark wigs that surprisingly, did not frighten the kids. Way to be Gator Board and helpul parents for showing our kids a rockin' party.

We're back to pulling lane lines, so families, please get your kids to practice early, starting Monday eve.

As for which kids should be doing 2 a days....

It's best that the kids themselves decide to go to practice twice in a day.

It's for older kids who can truly handle it without getting burned out ordiscouraged.

It's better to go just once a day, most days, and have them being eager to come out and practice.

I can give my expert recommendations to any parent who emails me or talks to me before or after practice about it.

Info, Updates#News on next 3 Gator meets
Jun 2, 2012, 4:16 pm

hot newsHi swim families--

Lots of extra but timely info here.

Wednesday night's Special Ribbon Meet is perfect for brand new swimmers. Very low key and fun, and each swimmer wins a ribbon each time they swim (see no. 2 below).

Ericka has the Weaverville Meet Sheets (see below). Swimmers, if you need help with times and which events, come to me. Otherwise, you can sandbag your times a bit (2-3 seconds per 50). This is our lowest pressure invitational of the season. Our team will wind up having been in the water longer than any of the other seasonal teams (and only seasonal teams will be at this meet), and therefore will be more ready for this meet than the other teams. Most of us will camp right there at the park, near the pool (see below).

This is a copy and paste from Ericka--

1. Weaverville Meet Sheets are due Thursday June 7th @ pm practice. Also, on Friday night at the Weaverville meet we will be having a team BBQ after the meet in the park outside of the pool area. The team will be providing the food, all you need to bring are your chairs and drinks. (This is for our team only) Please let Ericka know if you will be attending the BBQ so we know how much food will be needed.

2. We are having a practice dual at Wednesday night's practice (June 6th). This is just our team. Please fill out the dual cards (your name and what stroke you want to swim) by Tuesday June 5th and put them in the blue box in the breeze way.

3. PARENTS - If you would like to purchase an Aquagator team shirt for yourself or family members, an order is going to be put in at the end of the week. Please see Ericka. Orders will be taken until Thursday June 7th. T-shirts are $12 and tank tops are $15. (These are not the lapathon shirts the kids will be getting).

4. Swamp Monster Relays is fast approaching. It is Saturday June 9th. Those teenagers wishing to participate need to see Ericka and let her know. This meet is for ages 11 and up.

5. PARENTS - A sign-up sheet to help at the Swamp Monster Relays is posted in the breeze way window. Please sign-up to help, WE CAN NOT DO THIS WITHOUT YOU. Also donation items that you signed up to bring can be brought in at anytime now.

And now, this copy and paste from Tuesday, our treasurer--

As many swimmers know, your swim cap is an important part of racing. Not only does it show team spirit, but it can also help you shave a little time. Most importantly, it makes you more visible to your coaches when you are in the water. (It’s harder for coaches to coach you and provide that valuable feedback if they can’t find you!) The Aqua Gators are offering two choices for swim caps this year. You can purchase a regular silicone Aqua Gators cap for $10.00 throughout the season. This cap will be our same green cap with black lettering rather than the blue we used previously. We will strive to keep these available for sale through Ericka throughout the season. The second choice and the purpose of this email is to let families know that we will be placing an order for personalized swim caps next week. These caps will be the regular silicone Aqua Gators caps described above but with your swimmer’s last name on the cap. These caps will be sold for $12.00 each. However, there is a minimum order of two caps required for each last name. If you are interested in purchasing personalized caps for your swimmers, please let me know as soon as possible so I can be sure to get your caps in the order. Please email me at holmridge@snowcrest.net before Wednesday, June 6th with the total number of personalized caps you would like to order and the last name you would like on the caps. It takes 2-3 weeks to get these caps so I would like to get the order in right away. Do not worry about paying for any caps you order until after they arrive.

Thanks, Tuesday

Note the change in practice times and June’s meet schedule from your handbook or on aquagators.com

Physicals Sat./Over 90 swimmers/Moving up to Higher Group
May 19, 2012, 2:09 am

Hot NewsHi swim families--

Our practice schedule is in your handbook and on our website at aquagators.com

We're up to over 90 swimmers on our team. Over the next two weeks, we will continue to focus on drills, form and technique. ALL SWIMMERS benefit from this, as they continue to get into shape and get more ready for more challenging workouts. In fact, improving technique is the single most important key to improvement.

-If you're going to be on the West Valley Swim Team come early August, please spread the following word:

Low cost physicals and all the other paper work you need to be on the team happens this Saturday at the West Valley cafeteria.

It's low cost, socially fun, and comprehensive. Please help spread the word. Juniors and seniors 8-10 a.m.; freshman and sophomores 10-noon. While there, if you run across an athlete "on the bubble" about which sport to choose in the fall, please tell them they can attend a free practice with the Aquagators.

-Senior students planning on being on the WV Swim team come early August that plan to do College Connection--please keep in mind when signing up for classes that our practices start at 2:55p.m. Please email me if you are planning on doing College Connection--we may have to swing a deal.

Coach Carri, Coach Steven, and I will continue to evaluate swimmers to determine which ones should move up to the next group. Keep in mind, this is based on current and projected attendance, how well they perform the drills, their times in the I.M. and 200 free at last August's NVAL's, age, focus and maturity level, and attitude. Some swimmers, one by one, will move to the next group over the next 4 weeks or so.

In The Water May 7, Signups Thursday, New Coaches
May 1, 2012, 7:36 pm

"Signups for the Anderson Aquagators competitive swim team happens Thursday May 3rd, anytime between 4p.m and 6:30 p.m. at the West Valley High School Pool.

Fitting and acquisition of our team suits (pure black) will also occur that day.
Norcal Swim Shop will also have goggles and caps etc. at the pool this Thursday.

At signups, you'll also get your swim schedule, handbook and other info. I will be there too.

1-Parents of swimmers age 9 and under--feel free to watch practices from a distance, but please stay at least 20 yards away from the 9 and under swimmers and let our coaching staff take care of everything.

2-Speaking of coaching staff, we have 3 new coaches to handle the 8 and under group, and they all were hand chosen and endorsed by me based on their professionalism, passion for teaching young kids, and their proven track record on the Aquagators and West Valley (all were captains) swim teams. They are Taylor Serna, Nate Espino and Becca Lindsey.

Marc

2-Sign ups and team suit fitting and acquisition is May 3rd (more on that next week), and we're in the water May 7th.

10-Our next board meeting is Saturday at noon at Round Table in Anderson.

11-It looks like there will be several Berkeley and Stanford swimmers (whom we saw the past 2 field trips) at Olympic trials in June. Berkeley's men's and women's teams won NCAA's. The following Berkeley swimmers are number one in the nation (and many of us saw them on the field trips); Thomas Shields in 100 back (44.86) and Will Hamilton in the 200 fly, and Caitlyn Leverenz in the 200 I.M. (1:51) and 200 breast, and Sarah Isakovic in the 100 fly (51.49 and Cindy Tran in the 100 back (50.31).

12--We've got a couple of campout meets in June, which, of course, are really fun. Check out our meet schedule on our website at aquagators.com

Message from Coach Marc Soares

 coach

For the Anderson Aquagators coaching staff, teaching our swimmers life skills is the top priority.   We aim to entice swimmers to become humanitarians, and yearn to learn, grow in character, and improve in swimming. Sportsmanship in swimming with the Aquagators parallels sportsmanship in life.

Resiliency is the ultimate thing we teach. Parents and coaches together, let’s prepare them for the hard path, not clear the hard path.

Let’s praise effort and focus, and not talent or intelligence. It’s better to come in 4th and lower four seconds, than to come in first and add 4 seconds.

One of our mottos is the following 6 choice words-- “Work hard, work smart, have fun.”

On our swim team, the fun is in being challenged, lowering times, learning new things, socializing, and doing quality work with friends.

Our coaching staff will teach that performance in practice totally relates to performance in competition. In order to improve a lot, we mustcoach 2 improve the way we practice. Aside from good attitude, focus and effort, regular attendance (3-4 practices or more per week) is the key to building a swimmer’s self image and esteem.

Learning and personal growth-wise, the bigger meets are the bigger picture. This includes our own Anderson Invitational, followed by NVAL Championships. Both meets are towards the end of the season, and both have more competition.   Winning easy ribbons such as at dual meets is ok, but preparing, then stepping up and earning a ribbon at an invitational meet is way better.

You can reach me at soaresindigo@yahoo.com, 242-6289, or before and/or after practices.   MarcCool

Meet This Saturday/Aquagator Schedule/Stanford Trip was a blast
Mar 7, 2012, 7:38 pm

Hi Swim Families--

Dionne and I are planning on watching the Shasta College meet this Saturday at 1 p.m. at Shasta College. Former Aquagators and West Valley swimmers Ashley Moebes, Nate Espino and Matt Bohlin will be racing. It's good to see what junior college swimming is like.

Our Stanford University field trip was a huge success. 30 of our swimmers and 16 of our parents saw some amazing swims and the fantastic campus where Bill Walsh and Jim Harbaugh coached and John Elway, Andrew Luck and Jim Plunkett played. The Stanford men went on to win Pac 12 Championships again. Stanford swimmer David Nolan is ranked first in the nation in the 100 back with a 45, and second in the 200 I.M. with a 1:42.

I know a lot of you prefer to place the weekend summer swim meets on your calendar early, so here they are--

June 22-24 Weaverville (campout)

June 29-30 Scott Valley (campout)

July 14-15 Red Bluff

July 20-22 Anderson Invitational

August 3-5 NVAL Championships

You can peruse the schedule anytime, and in more detail, on our updated, info-filled website at aquagators.com

Hi swim families--

1-The Anderson Aquagator board meeting is this Saturday at 11:30 at the Anderson Round Table. The first 15 minutes is set aside for the public to comment etc.

2- The plan is to take another road trip to the Bay Area (perhaps Stanford University this time) to watch the number one ranked Berkeley College swim team (several of the swimmers will be going to Olympic Trials and perhaps Olympics in a few months). We'd likely do the trip in February. Last year's trip to Berkeley was highly successful.

3-I wanted to point out that yes, it's 1-piece suits only at practice and meets for West Valley High Swim Team, but it's still ok to wear 2-piece suits for Aquagators.

4-Here's a list of some very good videos about freestyle turns and freestyle technique--

Great NVAL's and Season--Thanks!
Aug 1, 2011, 9:14 pm
Hi swim families--
Great team vibe at NVAL Champsionships.  Virtually all 63 of our swimmers got some lifetime bests, and many simply blew down the doors.  Our swimmers learned that preparation breeds success.  Our kids are even closer-knit now, and their time drops and happiness were contagious.  T'was a good article about our 6th straight championship title in the Record Searchlight.
3 of our swimmers won races--Matt Bohlin (several), Taylor Serna (several), and Emmy Lindsey (500 free).  Bohlin (gonna miss you) and Serna also won their age group's top scorer trophy.  Others on the team who got into the top 5, thus winning trophies were Jericho Strege, Travis Serna, Ande Baldwin, Carson Lowry, and Gabrielle Ukestad.
Our AWARDS ceremony is this Thursday at 6 at the pool (see details in last Monday's email).  All swimmers who attend will be recognized and at least receive a pin. Bring your suits for free swim afterwards.
Lots of folks to thank for another wonderful season filled with swimmers' improvement through effort.  The coaches are honored to be partners with our swimmers on their life journeys.
I totally appreciate the patience, passion, wisdom and expertise of coaches Carri, Dionne and Steven.  You guys rock.
Thanks to the board for supporting us, and also loving the kids.
Thanks to our officials Karin Lindsey, Mike Brown, Ted James, Kevin Uksetad, Jeff Peterson and Darin Strege for educating all swimmers.
Of course, thanks to our many, many, many hard-working behind the scenes parents such as Ericka, Mike Manning (he fixed our ailing race lane spools), Sherry James (lapathon) and Mike Haslam.
Qucik reminder--West Valley swimmers, please reread the email dated Sunday, July 24.      Marc

Corning Dual Canceled/NVAL Stuff/Swim Clinic
Jul 25, 2011, 6:38 pm
Hi Swim Families--
Aquagators are going to run a practice Wednesday eve instead of going to the Corning tri-meet.  With NVAL's this 3-day weekend,  the practice is more important than swimming 2 events.    NVAL Championship Swimmers--just 1 practice per day this week.
Info on our Awards Banquet Below, as well as info on our annual swim clinic.
Now, for NVAL's--
  1. Rest is our swimmers' number one priority, so they can swim their fastest times of the season.
  2. Stay hydrated all week--water's the best.  No sodas or sugar.
  3. The coaches will get our 63 NVAL swimmers dialed in to hopefully win our 6th straight NVAL Championship title.
  4. Coaches are telling swimmers who earned a spot on a relay.  Relay swimmers, please go in the order posted in your heat and lane assignment.  No false starts or early departures.
  5. Please wear your Aquagator shirts, and stay in the shade of the team area.
  6. We have 5 swimmers who will wrap up their Aquagator careers on Sunday.  I will have them fill out a form and they will be recognized.
  7. For Friday's 50 Aquagator swimmers, check in then get in at 12:45 sharp!
Saturday and Sunday, check in then get in to warm up at 7:45 sharp!   Be sure to do some dives all 3 days you are there.  Be sure to eat throughout the meet, and have a big dinner the night before.
Here's a copy and paste from Sherry James--

Great Meet/NVALChampionships
Jul 19, 2011, 12:39 am
Hi swim families,
Wow, yet another great meet we hosted.  Our meet director, Ericka Serna, is simply the best meet director around, and she put in countless, countless hours of proactive, quality work.  Parents, y'all rocked with your help, support, and good vibes.  It was truly a working party.

Our swimmers flat out rocked. Almost everybody got personal bests, and they're making more friends and getting more dialed in for NVAL Championships.  Speaking of which,  we're fortunate that we can grant one more day (Tuesday at practice) to get in your NVAL meet entries to Ericka.

I submitted an article about our rockin' meet to the Record Searchlight, and it's in today's paper (16 of our swimmers' names are mentioned, and oh yeah, we won the meet too).

Later this week,  a sheet will be posted with the names of who made it onto a relay(s), with an alternate person for each relay.  Again, just 1 relay per age group at this Championship meet.  Check the pool office wall to find out how much you owe for your kids' invitational relays.  Anderson Aquagators will pay for NVAL Relays.

Swimmers who do 2-a-days-------just come to 2-a-days this week, and just once per day next week.  At this point, lots of quality rest is more important for dropping time at NVAL's than extra work and time at practice.

West Valley Swimmers-  you will be getting an email soon with the complete schedule.   The season will start August 8, and you will need to give me your gold slips.  Captains, we will have our first meeting this Wednesday after practice (spread the word), and you will select the team suits then.

Aquagator Relay Clarifications
Jul 11, 2011, 10:19 pm
Here are some guidelines of how the Aquagator coaches are educating our swimmers through relays--
  1. Being on a relay should be treated as an honor, and this is a chance to come through and do a good job for your team.
  2. In dual meets, the coaches will tend to place fast swimmers with not as fast swimmers in order to mix it up, give not as fast swimmers a chance to get a blue or red ribbon, and get to know other swimmers on the team and hopefully bond with them.
  3. In Invitationals, the coaches want kids to earn a spot on the "A" relay team, and then go out and try to place as high as possible.  The Aquagator coaches confer to determine the fastest possible combination.
  4. At NVAL's, the coaches again confer the same way as in Invitationals, only this time there is just an "A" relay, and no "B" relay.  This message was delivered in an email the day after the Scott Valley Invitational.  The idea is to motivate swimmers to do their best preparing in practice and stepping up at meets to get onto that relay team. If they don't make it, try again next year.
  5. Placing a kid onto an "A" relay team that hasn't earned that spot can be embarrassing to that swimmer, and it makes the other kids in the relay wonder why a faster teammate wasn't placed there. The kids would likely think "hey, we could have won if we had our fastest possible combination."
  6. Now, there are times when the Aquagator coaching staff will not place a super fast swimmer on the "A" relay.  It could be anything from not trying, to not caring, coming across as a primadonna, being late for warmups, ditching out on a relay at a previous meet etc. etc.
  7. Coaches relay decisions may sometimes not seem fair, but we are always trying to do the right thing, in the name of educating kids about life. Sometimes fair and right are not the same thing.  Doing the right thing is the higher good over being fair.  It will be your kids "turn" to be on and "A" relay, when they've earned it, by objectively swimming the necessary fast time and being a good sport.
  8. The coaches often take splits in relays, and if we see that a swimmer has "phoned it in", we consider that grounds to put the next fastest kid in their spot next time.

Anderson Invitational Info/ No practice Thurs. eve./Bohlin parent supper
Jul 11, 2011, 10:16 pm
Hi swim families--
Loads of info here.  First, from Meet Director Ericka--
TO ALL PARENTS:
1. No practice Thursday night because of setting up for our meet.
2. We still need donations for GATORADE, CANDY, CHIPS, PROTEIN/GRANOLA BARS.
3. Probably most importantly is that we still need parents helpers:  Awards - 1 person,
Runners - 1 person, Hospitality - 6 people, Snack Bar - 4 people, Grill - 6 people, Announcer would like 1 person helping him throughout the weekend, Security - 1 person from end of the meet on Sat til about 8 pm and 1 person to stay the night on Sat night, Marshall's - 9 spots still open, First Aid - all three days still open, Bullpen - 5 people, Pool Area House keeper - 2 people.
**It is very important that these spots get filled because it is not fair to the parents who help all the time. We are in charge of putting on this whole meet so it is ALL of our parents responsibility to help out.
4. Dinner at the Bohlins. If you are attending the parent get together at the Bohlins please sign up at the pool, the signup sheet is on the window.
5. Warm-ups for the Anderson Invitational this weekend are as follows for Anderson swimmers:  Friday - 4:10 to 4:45 pm
                 Saturday - 7:30 to 8:05 am

                 Sunday - 8:10 to 8:45 am
6. NVAL meet sheets are now available and due by 7/17 (Sunday of our meet) New this year - there will be a fee added for entering online. You will still turn them into Ericka and the team will enter all of our entries online. Please DO NOT do this yourself. If you enter yourself you take the chance of your child not being on a relay because they will not be on our list of swimmers attending the meet and also we risk the chance of not having enough Stroke and Turn officials. If we do not have enough officials our swimmers would not score points and would not be awarded. We do not want that to happen.
 Thanks, Ericka

We have 73 of our swimmers entered in our meet.
Swimmers, drink your fluids all week, get rest, and get set to reach your second fastest times of the season (NVAL's will be your fastest!).
1-Swimmers, use the warmup lane to have a quality warmup.  Teenagers, also do a good warm down.
2-Please note our team warmup times listed above for each day.  Remember, we all get in together as a team at the same time, and get out together as a team, at the same time.
3-Please wear your new tie-dye shirts.  This week we will have blue die to soak your shirts in if there is too much white, which hides the names etc.
4-Parents of small children, please arrange for baby sitting or keep them in control.

We're having a get acquainted dinner (provided by the Bohlin's--thanks).  Tuesday from 5:30-8p.m.   Get directions when you drop off your kid for practice.

Red Bluff Invitational was a blast.  Aquagators who earned high point trophies include  Serena Williams, Ford Peterson,  Caleb Fitch (who also won at Scott Valley), Royce Lowry, Carson Lowry, Emma Ukestad, Taylor Serna,  Jessica Wilcox, Lucy Taylor,  Matt Bohlin, Jericho Strege, Travis Serna  and Gabrielle Ukestad.

Ericka

For the Red Bluff Invitational--
1--check in at the check in desk, then warmup promptly at 7:30a.m., unless you hear otherwise from me.  Our entire team needs to get in at the same time, and get out at the same time.  Dionne's group does at least 700 yards, my group 500-600, Carri's group 400-500, and Steven's group 300 yards.  All swimmers must work on turns and dives.
2--come see your coach before and after each race.
3--hang out in the Aquagator team area.
4--drink water all day, and drink extra water all this week at practice and at home.

Get useful info, including our schedule etc.  on our website at   aquagators.com

Some of our Aquagator t-shirts had too much white in it.  We'll need to soak it in medium blue dye.  More on that later.     Marc

2-a-day practices/Lapathon Thurs. eve/NVAL Relay teams
Jun 27, 2011, 4:09 pm
Hi swim fams--

Our team will be doing their 30-minute swim at Thursday eve's practice, laps will be counted then posted on our office window.  More on that below.  The Scott Valley campout meet was a blast. Our high point winners were Jacob Reuss, Bryson Serna, Carson Lowry, Jericho Strege, Gabrielle Ukestad (first), Ande Baldwin, Travis Serna, Taylor Serna, and Matt Bohlin (first).

Several parents have been asking about whether their kid(s) should be swimming 2-a-day practices, and our coaches are all agreeing that they've noticed 2-a-days are too much for many of their swimmers.
Two-a-days are really better suited for some teenagers.  Some 12 and unders can handle occasional 2-a-days.  Here is what the coaches look for to make this determination:

1----are the kids getting out and not doing the whole practice (we don't force kids to swim)?
2----swimmers not getting in on time.
3----swimmers not being focused, or frequently not trying.
4----swimmers complaining of being tired,or reporting various injuries (if they can't swim, they need to be examined by a doctor in most cases).
5----swimmers not wanting to go to practice.
6----swimmers having meltdowns at meets.

Here's the latest on the LAPATHON from Sherry James---

Lap-a-thon is Thursday evening 6:15 p.m.  I'll be at the school at 5:00 p.m. for those wanting to get started on dying their shirts.  Make sure you signed up for the potluck!  We'll need to be working in groups with some swimming, some eating, some tie-dying.  If you can't make it, we'll dye your shirt for you.  REMEMBER HI SCHOOL SWIMMERS......we want you to support the team by selling an ad for the Anderson Invitational Program to earn your shirt!  You'll be surprised how receptive businesses are to you.....make the effort PLEASE!
Anyone who has a Lane Sponsor in the works, please let me know.  I'll be out of town after this week and need to get our Lane Sponsor changes/additions/subtractions to the printer this week.  Thanks for all the support team members are giving to the fundraising effort and for suggestions to make it even more successful!  Sherry James 357-4084

For our final 3 invitationals, the coaching staff wants ALL of our swimmers to hang out in ONE team area.

***This way, the young swimmers can learn and be inspired by osmosis from our teen leaders.
***Our swimmers also have a better sense of belonging on our team, and have more opportunities to bond.
***The coaches can find swimmers easier.

Our coaching staff will be conferring and determining which of our swimmers will make the relay teams for NVAL Championships.  It will mostly be based on times our kids accomplish at our upcoming dual meet with Redding, and our Anderson Invitational. We will be preparing the swimmers for these meets.  Again, in a championship meet, we go with what the coaches believe will be the fastest possible combination of swimmers, and only 1 relay per relay event.       Marc

Dual Weds. at WV/Scott Valley info
Jun 20, 2011, 5:51 pm

*****Dual on Wednesday. Home against Red Bluff. It was scheduled at Red Bluff, but it has been switched to West Valley. Warm-ups at 5:15 and starting at 6 pm.

Please sign-up by Wednesday morning.  There will be a snack bar.

*****RED BLUFF MEET ENTRIES WILL BE DUE INTO ERICKA BY OR BEFORE WEDNESDAY’S DUAL WITH RED BLUFF

*****This important LAPATHON update from Sherry James--Lap-a-thon is in the final push for forms.  About half our families have turned in.  Please get them to the pool ASAP.  We rely on this effort to supplement our swim program (no carwashes, bake sales, etc.)  New this year is the FAMILY Lap-a-thon Event with Potluck Party!  Dye your shirt, eat dinner, complete 30 minute swim in one evening.  Parents will need to help count laps, encourage and assist with tie-dye.  FUN FUN!  I hope all can make the evening so you can dye your own shirt and take home."  .  GET those letters and ads in (has anyone talked to Gina at the BUZZ? All Service Propane? Weaver Lumber?  Jones Feed? Your Vet? hint hint). We already got Shasta Pizza.  Locally owned businesses are much more responsive than the big chains.   Any questions, call me Sherry 357-4084

*****The coaches will be preparing all swimmers all this week for Scott Valley.  Let's keep our kids warm and hydrated (water) at Etna.   For Saturday and Sunday, sign in then warmup at 7:45 a.m.  Swimmers, the warmups are very important to loosen and relax your muscles, get you used to the different pool (work on turns and dives),  and obtain your feel for the water.  Spend at least 30 minutes.

There will be our Aquagator team area in the shade.  We want all swimmers in this area when they are not behind the blocks getting ready to race.

Heat and lane assignments will be posted on the wall.
Swimmers, come see Coach Dionne, Steven and I before and after each race.

Many families will arrive on the football field across from the pool sometime Friday afternoon to set up camp. Our plan is to cross the highway and eat dinner at Bob’s Ranch House between 6 and 7p.m.   During the day Friday and Saturday, swimmers should get lots of shade to stay fresh. Avoid the heat and let’s not have any sunburns.

Swimmers, come check in with your coach before and after your races.

*****No practice today, Friday (heading to Scott Valley), and next Monday (resting after Scott Valley Meet).

*****4 of our swimmers were first place high point plaque winners at the super fun Weaverville Campout Meet. They were Royce Lowry, Travis Serna, Taylor Serna and Matt Bohlin.   Other Aquagators who were recognized at the Awards Ceremony with top 3 high point plaques were Emma Ukestad. Gabrielle Ukestad, Carson Lowry, Ridge Peterson, Andrew Nerdin, Jericho Strege, Emmy Lindsey, and Lucy Taylor.

Ribbon Meet and Scott Valley due Thursday
Jun 4, 2011, 11:25 pm

Entries for the Scott Valley Campout Meet due to Ericka by this Thursday.

To help our team get ready for that meet and the Weaverville Meet (which is closed--48 Aquagators are going), we're going to hold a special Ribbon Meet this Thursday during our normal evening practice.  This year, the kids or parents will fill out the pink (girls) of blue (boys) cards, and each kid can enter 3 races.  Swim a race, win a ribbon, and be even more ready for the weekend meets.

Our practice schedule switches to mornings (7:45-9:30 Monday through Friday), and evenings (6:15-8p.m. Mon-Thurs), starting this Monday.
I'm recommending that all swimmers in Dionne's group can opt for going to 2-a-days.  First-year swimmers and 10 and unders should for the most part, go to just one practice per day.  All others, come talk to me about at least sprinkling in some 2-a-days.

For the Scott Valley Meet, do not enter online (there are several good reasons the board voted for our team to hand our entries in as a team).  Scott Valley's pool is a meter pool, so, when putting in swimmers' times, add 4 seconds per 50.
Only seasonal swimmers will be awarded.  We'll all camp together again on the football field, so swimmers can make even more friends and get even closer to the team.

The coaches will be getting the swimmers competing at Weaverville ready for their races.

No Practice Today-Pool Too Cold/Meet entries
Jun 1, 2011, 12:52 am
The pool temp is too cold, so therefore practice is cancelled today (5/31) (dang).
But it will be warm enough tomorrow and Thursday, so let's make up for missed opportunities.

Remember to bring your meet entries for Weaverville to Ericka tomorrow.  If you don't have the meet sheet and can go, Ericka can give you one at practice Wednesday, and you can have your parent come to the pool office and quickly fill it out.  I will stay late after practice tomorrow to answer any meet questions.

Keep in mind that the Weaverville meet is for seasonal swimmers only, and that means most of our swimmers will now be moving up a place or two.
They also will be scoring separately for the 13-14, 15-16, and 17-18 age groups.   We also have a head start on the other seasonal teams, for we've been practicing longer (some teams haven't gotten in yet).

Lo and behold, the Scott Valley meet sheets are in, and very soon, we will be passing those out.

Marc

Weaverville/Pink Slips/100 on team
May 28, 2011, 1:23 pm

Hi swim families--

Weaverville meet entries are due to Ericka at the pool by JUNE 1.
More on this fun and low pressure meet below.

****All kids who got their pink or gold slips from WV Physicals last Saturday, please bring it to me at the next practice.

****The Aquagator team is up to 100 swimmers now, and practices have been very crisp and focused.  The kids are really getting their technique down, and are thinking smart while moving smoothly in the water.

****No practice on Memorial Day Monday.

****"if you have swim pictures you'd like to share thru our website photo gallery, please submit them to  Zizi Ukestad

E-mail Address(es):
ukestad5@att.net"       Visit our fantabulous website at aquagators.com

****The coaches want most teenagers to enter the 500 free at Weaverville.  We will have you ready for it, and for many of you, it will be the event you score the most points in.  We will let each swimmer know.

****Not sure what time or event to enter, please confer with your kids' coach or myself before or after practice.

****The Weaverville meet is for seasonal swimmers only, and our goal is for our kids to have fun, not feel much pressure, and simply learn from their races.  New swimmers--consider skipping Friday's events, and perhaps choose just one day.  Established swimmers--some of you have chances for high point awards and many of you have good chances at ribbons.  This is a new pool, and a very well run meet, and most families will be camping at Lowden Park (where the pool is) close together so the kids can get to know each other even better.

****If you're not sure of an approximate time to enter, leave it blank, and I will fill in the times.  If you're going off last year's NVAL times, add a second to each best time.  Please confer with your kids to ask them which events they want to do.

****ALL SWIMMERS must be accompanied by their parent(s) or designated supervising adult.  An adult must drive every swimmer (swimmers cannot drive themselves).  We will have lots of teenagers at this meet, so we'll have parents doing curfew checks etc.

News from Coach Marc
May 11, 2011, 12:23 am

Set up and take down is a team thing.  12 and under swimmers need to arrive at 5:15 to help roll lanes and drag lanes.
Teenagers need to stay until 7:15 to reroll lane lines and cover our pool.

Lots of team info on our fantastic web site at    aquagators.com

I would love to talk about your kids, anytime before or after practice.

For all swimmers who plan to be on the West Valley Swim Team in August---low cost physicals, and everything you need to fill out--Saturday morning, May 21st, at the West Valley High School cafeteria.  I have a brochure about it if you'd like for me to give you one.

Parents of West Valley swimmers, please doublecheck your kid's GPA status.  If it falls below 2.0 this spring semester, they will not be on the West Valley High School team this upcoming season.      Marc

New from Coach Marc

Be sure to receive your New Aquagator Handbook, which includes our practice schedule, team picture and Lapathon dates, and our meet schedule.
The meet schedule is also on our website at aquagators.com

For year-round swimmers coming to Aquagators, be sure to register as a year-round swimmer (if your name is on a year-round team roster listed on Swim Connection, than you are for sure a year-round swimmer).

Can't wait.
